Yoga for Special Needs
Yoga for Special Needs meets every child exactly where they are.
Yoga for Special Needs is an accessible, interactive yoga class open to all children, teens and young adults with special needs. This class is designed to meet students exactly where they are in their current skill sets. The class will focus on a combination of breathing techniques, mindfulness exercises, meditation, yoga poses, sequences and games and a final relaxation. Students will learn techniques to help them build body and spatial awareness, concentration and focus, fine and gross motor development, social and emotional skills and a positive sense of self. The class is safe, gentle and beneficial for children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism and other developmental disabilities. We also recommend it for children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, ADHD and learning disabilities. Family members without special needs are also welcome to join in.
